From Belgium, with Love

Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Babs! I’m a travel passionado (hey, that sounds better than ‘freak’, right?) and entrepreneur. I’ve visited 27 countries up until now, but I don’t like to just tick some boxes and move on. I’d rather stay a bit longer in one place and dive deeper into the local culture.

But as much as I love exploring the world, Belgium holds a special place in my heart. That’s why I created “Next Stop Belgium” – because Belgium isn’t getting nearly enough attention in the travel world!

Born and raised in the land of chocolate and fries (and beer and waffles), I’ve been exploring all corners of Belgium since I was little.

I grew up near Bruges and then ventured out to Antwerp for university. With my wife and partner in crime, Kath, I’ve lived in Antwerp and Rupelmonde before moving to Ronse in the Flemish Ardennes region, where we’ve settled down with our two kids.

Behind the Blog

Why Next Stop Belgium?

Now, why start a blog about Belgium?

Well, between you and me, I think our little country doesn’t always get the spotlight it deserves. Sure, we’re famous for our beers, chocolates, and a certain peeing statue, but there’s so much more to Belgium than meets the eye.

Through “Next Stop Belgium”, I want to be your insider guide. Think of me as that friend who always knows the best places to visit and safeguard you for the tourist traps.

I’m here to share the real Belgian experience, from hidden forest trails in the Ardennes to the best fries that will ruin all other fries for you (sorry, not sorry).

But it’s not just about showing you places; it’s about helping you experience them.

Planning a trip to Belgium can be as bumpy as a Belgian road, but I’ve got your back. Whether it’s finding that perfect cosy glamping spot or navigating our quirky festivals, I’ve got tips, tricks, and some pretty funny stories (like the time my wife and I set out to bike to Paris but decided 3 days in that Dinant was far enough – who knew those hills could be such a workout?).

In short, “Next Stop Belgium” is your go-to for exploring our little country with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor. Let’s dive into the Belgian experience together – where the beer flows freely, the chocolate is endless, and getting a little lost is just part of the journey.
